PRODUCTION MANAGER
Axolotl is Australia’s leading manufacturer of architectural surfaces, specialising in semi-precious metal and concrete treatments and decorative glass. Our dedicated team of designers, technical, sales and administrative staff work closely with architects and interior designers to produce innovative award-winning design elements.

We are currently looking to appoint an experienced Production Manager to assume responsibility for the planning and monitoring of workflow, and the supervision of the workshop floor. The role is based at our factory in Matraville and works closely with a creative and collaborative team.
About the role:
Reporting directly to the Creative Director your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Actively learn workshop processes and procedures
• Hands on management of workshop staff including daily and weekly scheduling to ensure a streamlined workflow.
• Monitor production to maximise efficiency and minimise non-conformance
• Ensure quality standards and set company KPI's are adhered to
• Produce daily/weekly production reports and schedule updates incorporating immediate scheduling changes if and when required
• Ensure monthly targets are met and/or exceeded
• Participate in management meetings
• Liaise with the other members of the management team regarding factory lead times and other production issues
• Implementation of management systems
• Ongoing updates to production manuals and procedures
• Develop and implement preventative and other plant and equipment maintenance programs
• Oversee workshop equipment and maintenance
• Produce operational budgets for the manufacturing area
• Coordinate orders for workshop materials and equipment
• Implementation of OH&S requirements in the workshop
• Organise and supervise overtime as required
Skills and Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role in a small-medium sized business - preferably with a manufacturing or luxury retail focus
• Strong project management skills
• Ability to analyse and report on data to inform business strategy
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets and Drive
• Filemaker skills an advantage
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Team building skills
• Technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Confident customer service skills

INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER / TECHNICAL DRAFTSPERSON

In this role as industrial designer/technical draftsperson, you will be working on a diverse range of projects including facades, doors, panelling, signage and sculptures.
ROLE OUTLINE & RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of an Industrial Designer within Axolotl's team is to:
· work closely with the various members of Axolotl's team including interior designers, artists, management and floor staff.
· conduct project research and collect product samples to support project briefs.
· actively participate in ideation sessions and workshops both internally and externally with customers.
· originate and develop ideas to concept design stage. This will involve reading publications, consulting engineers, graphic designers, marketing, operations, sales representatives, and the end customer/artist to establish well-rounded and detailed design concepts.
· create product illustrations, concept sketches, diagrams, design specifications and technical drawings.
· present designs to clients or design committees and discuss required modifications or amendments.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in this role you will have:
· at least one year's experience using CAD software, Illustrator and the Adobe Creative Suite to prepare high-quality, accurate documentation.
· relevant qualifications or experience.
· the ability to multi-task a wide range of small to medium-sized projects that vary widely in type, scope and complexity.
· attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
· the ability to work autonomously and to keep on top of the tasks at hand
· to liaise with production staff regarding the manufacture of items drafted.
· a high level written and oral communication skills.
· to be conscientious, hard-working capable of working in a team environment
· a willingness to learn and show initiative
· strong organisation/time management skills
· good mathematical ability
To stand out from the rest, you will also have the skills to:
· Build simulated models/mock-ups/prototypes, use hand tools, power tools and other equipment/materials to achieve convincing representations of design intent.
· Design product and graphics for presentations, visualisations and advertising, as well as products for custom applications.

We are currently looking to appoint an experienced finisher / sander to join our team. Duties will include the sanding and preparation of varying substrates for our coating system. Additionally, you will be trained in finishing metal coatings to different grades of textures and high-quality finishes. The successful applicant needs to have an eye for fine detail and a strong work ethic.

In this role as Senior Spray Painter you will be applying Axolotl's unique metal, concrete and terracotta coatings to a variety of architectural objects including joinery, doors, panelling, signage and sculptures.
Reporting to the Creative Director, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Mixing and spraying Axolotl’s unique coatings onto a variety of substrates of varying forms ie flat, curved, 3D panels, sculptures
Application of undercoats and special finishes
Some preparation of surfaces prior to painting
Opportunities to use your creativity to experiment with Axolotl’s unique coatings
Specialist on the job training in the application of our unique coatings will be provided to the successful applicant.
